Founders for the good life
All About Agetech shares my insights and news for agetech investors. It is dedicated to the founders innovating for the good life - in all areas. My column is based on my experience as investor in consumer startups with a specialisation in agetech.
There are many ways to define agetech. I define it very broadly as any startup focused on making life better for the elder generation. Thus, the founders I cover are not only focused on health and care, but innovate in many areas, including finance, community, travel and sports. I call this holistic approach the good life.
Living longer is only a part of the good life
What is the point in living longer if it is not a good life. Many societies around the world are faced with a huge challenge. On the one hand, their senior population is growing, and are more healthy, active and digitally savvy than ever before. On the other hand, elders are often isolated and lonely. They are yearning to be part of the greater community and happy to contribute to it, but remaining an integral part of society is made difficult for them.
Focus on the founders
One group working hard to change this are entrepreneurs. There are countless startups realising ambitious and innovative ideas to allow everyone to live the good life. Agetech entrepreneurship comes with many of its own challenges and opportunities. Much of this is under the radar and underreported.
All About Agetech seeks to change this. I share my news and insights from agetech entrepreneurship right here on Substack. Useful for investors, policy makers and leaders of companies involved in the ageless economy and the founders itself.
Navigating the startups
As a navigational guide, I have organised agetech startups into one of four main categories:
Health, Nutrition and an “Active Lifestyle”
Care, Love and Community
Independence, Finance, Jobs, Home and Safety
Giving and Leaving
